Can someone please explain the why this occurred? Is there something about granite? I just got up to feel our granite countertops and they don't feel particularly cold. Or was the pie plate somehow defective? Curious.

You know, we considered that maybe the pie plate was maybe old and weak. I could swear that I have moved pies from the oven to the granite countertop before without any incidents. However, it is cold here, and that could have made the difference.

Well, at least you still have the BlueBell homemade vanilla ice cream that you bought to go with it. There’s nothing like a cold scoop of Homemade vanilla on a hot pie...

    Wait...

You did buy ice cream, right?

Yes indeed! But, it wasn’t BlueBell. I have not seen that brand in these parts.

When my girlfriend and I first got together, her older daughter was about ten years old. One weekend at my old apartment, she decided to use a glass baking dish to make pancakes. In due time, it shattered on the electric stove burner, and she burst into tears immediately causing us to run in to see what had happened. No one was hurt, and I told her it was fine as long as she didn't get cut by the glass. It was a good chance for Ashley to explain why one doesn't do that.

there is only so much temperature differential glass can take. even Pyrex will break if the difference is too much. I've done it a couple times sad to say

My argument against granite counters. I like my wooden ones.

Nice looking pie though dude. Sorry you can't enjoy that one. When apple season comes around, late summer or so, I'm in the kitchen every week baking pies and crisps.
It's why my wife loves me :D

He’s in Pennsylvania. Poor souls North of the Mason-Dixon probably don’t have Blue Bell.
