I just discovered that Bonamassa is part of a funk project called Rock Candy Funk Party. Apparently he joined because one of his rhythm section players is in it. Anyway, from perusing a few videos this is a situation where he plays as just one of the guys, fits in well, and I think it shows another side of him....he can do more than just guitar hero blues rock.

Joe really does do some nice I'm just a guy in the band type stuff.

Huge player but as a front man leaves me cold

I've got a few of the Rock Candy albums and they're okay - no issue with them but, for me, I love his mainstream JB albums. I also like his Black Country Communion output.

A lot round here don't seem to like him / his music. That's fine, we all have our likes and pet dislikes.

I feel badly about not liking him more, but I don't. It's not a matter of disliking Joe or his playing -- there's just other stuff that interests me way more. Particularly so when it comes to funk.

    I can dig it.

    Funky, jazzy, and up-beat.

I have never been in either camp, i guess.
(The love JB or the hate JB, I mean.)

    He's an excellent guitar player.
    Just as is John Mayer.

Their personalities and their egos are what they are.

Sometimes a really great car comes with a flashier than usual paint job.

Its six years since their first Cd.....where have you been? It was Tal Bergmans band, been a while since he played for Joe. RCFP are great live, you get to see the real Joe. The guy in the suit and shades isn't really him. People love to hate success, human nature. :)

    And here's a guy that's a very good/competent player and musician.

Gets to play with world class musicians, guitar collector, a working musician and basically charts his own destiny.

Do I like everything he does? Probably not. I did like that clip. Thanks for posting it. I liked the LP and Strat difference.

I certainly not going to bash the guy or anyone else that gives their honest effort.

    I'm a little jealous.

Actually I quite enjoyed it, and am on record as liking both Joe Bonamassa and John Mayer. I know that both musicians pale in comparison to most, if not all of the other worldly musicians here on the Bad Dog, but then again, I'm easily impressed.:lol::lol:

Refreshing to see him without the suit hair and glasses. Dumbest fake look ever.

I like the music but I can't watch him perform. Not that that is a bad thing as who really needs to see the performance anyway? He's not a favourite of mine but I can't deny that he's got more talent in his little finger than I have in my whole body.

I thought when I saw him perform live at the Robobank Arena in Bakersfield, how refreshing to see a musician dressed up nicely, with his hair combed and sporting a nice pair of sunglasses. So different from the slept in the alley in his clothes look I'm used to seeing of performing musicians.
