More than three weeks ago, we sent one of our great granddaughters a hundred bucks as a present for graduating High School. It never showed up, so Monday I cancelled the check, got another graduation card for her, and put a hundred-dollar bill in it. We went over and gave it to her on Tuesday. (Yesterday)

Here's where the cat came in. I should have but did not take its picture. It was strikingly beautiful and had a boring gaze that you could simply not ignore. It looked like a tiny tiger. It's only a few months old, but already trained to use a litter box OUTSIDE! Though it may be common, I've never seen a cat do this before, it uses the doggie door! This kitty was found by one of the kids in a DUMPSTER at a car wash! It was during the heat wave, and the poor kitty had burned its paws on the hot metal trying to escape.

The kitty is just so cool, I can't describe how impressed I was by it. It is apparently very grateful for its new home. It was comical, my great grandson would put the kitty outside, by the time he came back in the kitchen where we wear all sitting, the cat would sail through the doggie door and be back too! He just wants to hang with everyone. He's a happy cat!

I love happy cat stories

The hundo will be long gone and baby tiger will still be tearing things up.

Mmm...what would I do? On one paw you have a hot stinky dumpster that some Jackhole used as a kitten depository. On the other paw you have an air conditioned home with a bunch of kind 2 leggers that make you purr. Cat aint dumb!
Also sounds like you have good Grandkids. Youngsters that grow up with pets/animals learn responsibility, empathy and kindness.

The kids are really cool, so are their parents. The daddy works all of the time, but still finds time for the kids. They have a wonderful home with a huge lot, swimming pool, and lots of things for the kids to do. The granddaughter is going away to Arizona to attend college, I know that's going to be tough on all involved. That cat is just a cutup! I'm admittedly not a cat guy, for one thing I'm allergic to them, but if I was going to have a cat, I'd want one just like him!

My wife and I adopted 2 cats this past Feb from a shelter. They are brothers from a litter of 11 feral cats. When we brought them home, we were all prepared to have a "safe" room with food, water, and a litter box for them to adjust to us. When we got them home and let them out of the carrier, they took off playing and running throughout the house having fun and chasing each other. We think it's because they were kept in a kennel with their other siblings and never really had a place to run. They had a home. That night we figured that they would sleep in the safe room.... surprise, they both climbed up on the bed and slept with us. We have a family....

here's a pic of them snuggling

Dogs are taught to go outside and accept it as something the food giver wants. Cats may do so if it suits them. If not you better have a litter box handy, but its your call.

The folks who have the cat in the op thought since the dogs went outside the cat should too. The cat got onto using the doggie door as soon as it saw a dog go through it and did the same. The outside litter box is working great for them.

When Toto was a pup, I mean very young, he saw an adult dog go through a doggie door over at my daughter's house and went through it on the run! I knew if I got a doggie door, he would use it and I did.

Cat made a decision to please itself. Dog made the decision to please you. Just kidding.

Our dogs either arrived knowing they were supposed to go out and went to the door, followed the lead of the dog we had or was taught by the two of us, one inside pushing through the doggie door and the other (me) outside with a treat until they got it.

Had a 1yr old kitty playing in the back yard when neighborhood bully cast a stink eye on him. An easy mark, or so he thought. He jumped down from the wall only to come face to face with Scooter, a real bruiser. It was like a Warner Brothers cartoon, as the bully could not retreat fast enough. Messing with Scooter was definitely not on the agenda.
