i have a black face/white knob princeton on its way (brown circuit). it has a kendrick 10" black frame on board right now. how are these? anyone have experience with them?

what are some good replacement 10" speakers for this circuit, since the original is long gone anyway?

thanks

Kendrick should be O.K. An alternate would be a Weber Signature Ceramic
10". I had a 62 Brown, tried a lot of Original Jensen Alnicos, but surprisingly
the Original Oxford when put back in sounded the best.....guess Leo knew
what he was doing with that combination.

Weber is a Great Alternate and Affordable

Eminence Copperhead is a toneful speaker that works well with a 6G2-type circuit. If you want some hints of blackface sparkle, you could try a Weber 10F125.

if i went weber, would i want the 25 or 50 watt? i would think 25.

also, what about 10f150 v. 10a150? i know the original speaker was ceramic. what would i lose/gain if i used alnico instead?

I believe the options for the 125 are 20W or 30W. Either would be fine, but the 30W would be a bit warmer. You might also have the surround lightly doped. My recollection of alnico vs. ceramic on the 10_125 is that the ceramic is both a bit brighter and a bit more solid in the lows. It was some years ago, though, that I had those speakers. YMMV, etc.

Vanguard, congrats on finally getting the brown Princeton. I never heard the Kendrick but I am sure it'll be fine. Play it for a little and then decide on the upgrade. I am storing my original Oxford and have used a ceramic Weber DT10 and a Weber 10A125 30 watt. The DT is a nice all around solid ceramic with a softer top end, good enough for Derek Trucks, good enough for me. The 10A125 has the alnico compression and breaks up more around 7 on the dial and gets fairly nasty sounding. The bottom isn't as tight as the DT either, not loose but not as tight.

There are so many choices out there now the sky really is the limit! Let us know when the amp arrives...
