What would the motive be? Both these companies have already mastered creating horrible tasting beer!

My guess: the recipe they stole allows them to save .000005 ¢ a can.

 

Because beer is about profit, sales - cost = profit. A mediocre beer that costs a fraction of Monkeynaut, is more profitable. A formula that provides the same sales at lower cost, is enviable.

I used to home brew, and was a snob (not really), but nowadays, I really enjoy the lighter side of light American beer. I've tried them all multiple times and periodically, and I'd say of all of them, Bud Light does seem to have more flavor for the same gravity and calorie content. Not sure how they are doing that, because the last beer I'd be attracted to are Budweiser products, but I think a blind fold test would bear out those results.

There are more fashionable brands, and its all light beer afterall, lol. But there are 10:1 drinkers of domestic continental pilsners, albeit with rice, and so are the $$ to be earned. I'm now more often of the 10, and less often of the 1.

PS - Ultra is similar, but I can't overcome the imagery of drinking a diet Michelob, nor the premium.

 

Why would anyone at either company want to steal the formula for watery piss?

 

How did they know Miller stole their formula? It's not like you could taste a difference.

 

They didn't say they used it and brewed (awful) beer, just that they had photos of documents.

I saw a Bud Light Platinum commercial last night, and my first thought was: Why try to polish a turd ?

 

let the beer wars begin! Lawyers, guns and money! Couldn't happen to more deserving folk...other than the wasted money will probably result in layoffs on both sides of the fence, so, yeah, a couple hot-head vice-presidents get to try to rouse up their testosterone and a couple dozen regular workers get to lose their jobs.

Still, I like beer. Just not the big American corporate stuff.

Yeah - beer is great. This time of year I enjoy every kind of marzen (Oktoberfest) I can get my hands on . Special award this year : Sierra Nevada’s version. Fantastic.

Though, if I could own any beer recipe and produce any beer on the planet ?

Bud light would probably top my list.

and as fun as stunt beers like Dogfish head are (27 day IPA !) , the guy that makes that hop swill sells a fraction per year than AB makes in a day.

 

I get the gross yellow 'merican beer thing, but all that aside ... the why ... if true ... could be that AB way out sells the other brands.
