    From the auction copy :

"This guitar is a six string electric and in good playing condition. It does have some small dings in the finish and 2 chips (see pics). There are NO scratchy pots. It dose have a strong oder to it. We are unsure what the smell is, but it is bad and strong (needs to be taken apart and cleaned). There is one nut missing (loose screw is included) (see pic) off the nut. Guitar has tremolo bar and 3 tention springs. The serial # begins with an "A". It has a 26 1/4" scale length. The color is a dingy deep yellow (lighter than Fender green #98)."

Maybe it's that dingy Fender green #98 aging badly??

That one's bound to be good for playing funk.

Wonder why the low E string is wound backwards around the peg?

That's probably due to the smell.
He even lost the nut screw and couldn't hold his breath any longer
