Started on my first build, I’ve been sourcing parts since last November, almost have everything for the build. Still waiting on a few things but I wanted to get started, so been taking my time, no rush here (yet!). I hadn’t taken any pics up to this point, so I wanted to share what I did have so far, still some more prep work before a finish. Still gotta figure out how to recess the string through block, I don’t have a router, so I’ll probably be hand fitting it.

Very nice. Where did you get the string through block?

I don't think i ever built one where I didn't change the design mid-stream. I plan them all out and gather the hardware over several months only to end up making changes along the way. It really is a journey building one.

I'm looking forward to the show, '71. Good luck with the project. If you have a drill press, it's possible to hog out the string-through block with a forstner bit.

No drill press unfortunately, got a dremel though, I’m looking at possibly buying a router.

You might also see if there is a Makerspace in your area. Sometimes they have woodworking tools you can use for a small fee. Or look for a tool library or rental shop.

Good luck, congrats on the build!

Wow! Nice work! Are you a metal worker by trade? I really like the idea of using something like that!

Can't you rout out a slot on your milling machine?

I’ve been a maintenance tech for going going on 20 years and before that I did die mold maintenance for 7, been messing around with machining equipment for most of it lol, that one was my second attempt and I felt like it was the one. First one was ok, a little too wide for my liking, but that’s how we get better right? Lol

Well it wasn’t my milling machine, but yes I easily could if I could sneak it into work, now you got me wondering if I can lol
