Yesterday was a good day all around. Got up, ate breakfast, fed the dogs, and got ready for the day. Took momma to the CBCC for a checkup where they removed a melanoma growth from behind her knee in the spring, it was perfect! She had a couple of other little growths attended to, and she's good until February 2026.

Next, we picked up some of the never-ending supplies form both Home Depot, and Lowe's. Then a trip over to our doctor's office for my pro-time check, which was good. Then to the neighborhood market, just as I was finishing up with the shopping, my son called. Wanna play golf? Yeah. He says it's getting late can you come over to my house in about 45 minutes? (He usually picks me up). I managed to get checked out, take the groceries home, dump off the garden supplies load up my stuff and be at his house forty-two minutes.

We had a great time at the golf course; he wouldn't let me pay for my golf and took care of it. My daughter called and talked to us on the speaker phone, she told my son she wouldn't be at his house later, because she had gotten moved into her new home. Called momma when I got to young son's house and into my car, she said suppers on the stove I'll eat with you when you get here! Didn't eat until nine o'clock, but what a great day all around. I never thought being an old coot would be this much fun.

sounds like the stars aligned for a fun day, Grab it with hand and run like heck , LOL.

One of the best things that's happened in my life was when I taught my son to play golf. It's something we can do together, and he can do with his friends. He's even learned to enjoy pickup games when he's out of town and plays on new courses. We finished just as it was getting dark, still enough light to finish, but by the time we got loaded up to go home it was dark. Nice ride home.

Makes up for when the caca and oscillating wind device come together. Gotta love those “perfect” days whenever they come
A few days ago, I was looking through some very old photographs of my wife's family before the youngest of her siblings was born. There were eight kids in the photo, all fully dressed, three of them had no shoes. One of the three was my wife, she was probably eight years old.

Having lived on a sharecropper's farm as a child I had similar experiences. I got my first store bought underwear when I was five maybe six years old. It took two months for them to arrive from Montgomery Wards.

To live as we do today, with plenty to eat and wear, having great things to do, and being able to afford to do them, is appreciated by us, more than most people could fathom. There were no safety nets when we were children just the air under you as you were free falling into poverty.

I’m glad to hear it worked out for you. But IMHO, golf is the perfect way to ruin a good walk. Me, couple dogs, a little smoke, and a good park or woods is all the infrastructure I need

I've heard golf referred to that way before. I've played golf longer than a lot of people have been alive. I don't want to think about not being able to play, though I know it's on my horizon in the not-too-distant future. Golf definitely falls under different STROKES for different folks!

My favorite from a book of golf quotes: Willie Nelson was asked ( on his own course) what’s par on this hole? “ This one is a par 8. Yesterday I BIRDIED it!”

Golf may be the best mental game there is. Line up, take your best shot (don’t worry about good or bad) and set up for the next shot. You can’t change the past and the future is beyond this moment.

I ended up with a 8 handicap after a very short stint at 6. Slowing my game down and forgetting about my last shot changed my game. The physical game became less important

Secret to golf right there. Life's a lot like that too. Some things you can change, some you can't it's good if you know the difference.

I've heard said that "problems" are issues you can fix, while issues you can't fix
are not problems but rather facts of life. The lay of the land. How things
just are. ... and the key to navigating this is to accomodate and circumvent
the immovable objects. You don't do this by wasting time and effort griping
about them and/or trying to change them.
