Yeah, it felt like an out of body experience to actually finish something! (And two actual guitars finished within the same month!) Making pickups is now one of my favourite bits. I like how you can go from nothing to a completed pickup in an hour, and even if you do have to redo one, it's only an hours work.

If only all do-overs were so easy.....

    Thanks Nutslut. :)

Yeah, every day is fun sock day round my house. (It totally isn't, I don't think novelty socks are anything other than just awful. Camo socks, now they are something else, though)

Thanks for reviving this thread, it has reminded me that Mr Richard Stratenstein has his end of the deal to uphold.

AAch! Caught! I'll try to get something together in the next couple of days. Maybe. If I can.
No, no, let me confess the truth. I didn't want Brainy to show me up, so I ordered a big load of fun socks from a Chinese vendor on ebay. They are still in transit, and as soon as they get here, I'll put some on and do the video. And you can count on that. Unless a dog eats them or something like that.

I used to have camo socks, but I kept tripping over stuff.

Whoa, just got caught up, but forgot my socks.

That white strat, damn man that's super sweet.

The pups, you apparently graduated clown wig school, they sound good man!

There's plenty of fun socks spare around here, apparently.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Here is a demo of the strat - in much more capable hands than mine, my friend Adrian's

Very nice. Great looking and sounding Strat, Brainy. Did you build it for Adrian? He seems to have quite a mastery of it. I noticed he does not have bear hands, either, but rather talented human ones. :D

EDIT: With videos such as this, you are making it difficult for me to keep up my end of the deal, you know. Unless, of course, you'd like to send Adrian over. Better include backing tracks, too, I have none.

Yep, built for him. I am flattered by how much he loves it. He refers to it in the most glowing terms you can imagine.

I actually do have some of his backing tracks if you'd like them! He also has some free ones on his website (he's a professional guitar teacher)

Sounds great, brainy. For me, the most rewarding part of the build is hearing someone play it well. Nicely done, Sir Brain!

Well, I've ummed and ahhed about the commercial rules on here, and though it seems unlikely I would be breaking any, since unless any of you live here in Northampton, Adrian won't be making any money out of you, but I'm still wary. So if you watch the video in YouTube rather than in the forum, his YouTube channel does list his website.

Thank you kindly. For me, the only way to hear something I make be played well is to make it for someone else....and as it happens, you couldn't ask for a nicer bloke than Adrian.

Yep, he did a good job playing it. I am pleased he did that song, it was what I asked/suggested he did to showcase the guitar.

DUDE, that's a grandslam or grandsalami depending on taste ;)

Roger, you 100% correct, finishing a build is cool, but hearing it sing in the hands of someone with talent, that's the real gift.

In my case, the guitars are OK, it's my playing that is the falling crap.

And unless I'm mistaken, which I'm not, Nick has provided us the latest addition to our ongoing log of great band names.
