The Marshall Class 5, a dead-sounding, rattly thing that doesn't get good until unrealistically loud volumes. Shame as its looks beautiful and is made in the UK - I wanted to like it!

I know I'm the only man on the planet who thinks so but my Blackstar HT5 head is awful. Maybe there is something wrong with mine but the clean channel is dull, the EQ does nothing and the drive channel sounds processed.

I'm not crazy about the Riveria designed Super Champ..

It's expensive, the stock speaker is limited, and 9x out of 10 the footswitch is missing and NLA..the 'verb goes away on the OD channel (which tends towards the buzzy) and the compacton tube is getting pricy & hard to find.. >.<

Yes I know that "it's a compact package that has great cleans and can do jams & small gigs.."

Pretty much describes any number of 30 watt 1x10 SS combos that can be had for @ $50 second hand..

Ok, why did you click on the thread? There are 51 posts atm so evidently some people felt it was ok to ask. Next time I will run my thread ideas and my reasoning by you for the thumbs up. Really what the yell does it matter? Maybe I would like to know what amps people consider to be overrated..that simple. What knowledge can it bestow? Uh...to find out about a wide variety of amps and the negative sides of said amps. It's really no different than asking people what there favorite amp is.

Blues Jr. I don't know why I ever bought one. Just about any other Fender tube amp I've played through sounds better. It's too dark with any humbucker guitar and uninspiring with my Tele.

Ps. It would contribute about as much knowledge as your thread"most over-rated/under-rated Tele"

I think most boutique amps (well everyone I have ever played) are way overrated. Ill take a Fender Tube amp over them any day of the week.

As far Fender amps though, I always thought the 57 twin was way overrated.

ANY amp advertised on Craigslist w/ *my* key search term "Easy Fix"...

Attached image proves the exception to the rule - a SS/6L6 hybrid classic of the PV 2x12 persuasion that has seen some pretty cruel hacking, and, with some hardware cloth over the spks, a bit of TLC (and wiring the spks in phase) I've got a stupidly low priced addition to (another hacked) pre-reverb ('65?) Deeeluxe.

My "stable" is populated almost exclusively w/ orphans of one kind or another - Trini Lopez, Norlin-era LP custom, sortacasters, partscasters, eBay shipping blunders, etc.

Best feature of all? Nobody seems keen on boosting my rig...
    Peace - Deeve

Any of the hyped "affordable" 5 watters that I've tried and/or owned.

Nearly any amp with an 8" speaker.

    Agreed.

Also most Marshalls. Some are very nice, but not most of 'em.
