what's the point, brother?
Silverface Vibro Champ. Had two at different times. Grossly overrated. Ok for making your guitar heard at home but totally uninspiring, thin, trashy.
Never understood what the fuss was all about. Would never have another, not even as a gift.
If someone offers you one as a gift, PM me and I'll give you my address and I'll even pay for shipping.
For me - Fender Blues Jr. There are tones in there I liked but I could never have one as my #1 amp. All around - meh...
There are no tones in there I like.
And yet - staying on the Jr theme - I really like Fender Pro Jr's.
Any amp with more than three knobs on it.
Overrated, not bad, just overrated...
Any Champ and Princeton Reverb...
again, not bad, just overrated...
I can never connect with all the threads that these are the best amps ever for gigs,
"Enough volume to be heard over a drummer "
I don't go to that summer camp...
Twins, they're too loud for most gigs.
I disagree. You don't have to crank them, you know. Mine sounds great with the vol. knob at 2-3
Twins, they're too heavy for most gigs.
No, seriously, I love 'em, but don't need one.
I think a stock DRRI ('65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue) is overrated IMO. I had to do a ton of mods to make it sound good and even then I ended up selling it.
The Vibro Champ.
I've had one for about 15 years and still it doesn't work for me. I think I'm going to give it my brother. Might even throw my Les Paul in with it.
He'l sound great on it like everything he plays. I hate that!
Valve JR,the 50 watt Valveking 1x12. Rivera studio Jake.Carvin 2x12 tweed.Traynor 80watt 2x12.Mesa dc50 and Blue Angel.Cost me many hundreds of dollars to find this out!Oh add the VHT Pitbull, what was I thinking!
I don't like broken amps.
But anything else, if I were good enough at guitar I'd be able to get it to sound good. (I'm not)
For instance, I had a crappy peavy transtube that never really did much for me. I sold it to one of my old bandmates when I left. Their new lead player uses it and makes the thing sing. It's really because he's way gnarlier at guitar.
Dam that reads like a list of my exwives. Only cheaper.
And why does it cost so much to get rid of a woman that only cost a sixpack to get?
I seldom use it for a gig with drums unless its jazz. But I use it 'most all the time for jazz and pit band work. Couldn't really live without it. Well I could, but I don't want to!
Heard a guy say,why does divorce cost so much, because its worth it.
True story for me as well. I have this very special ability to equalize any and all amps a little by playing... whereas some players I know can truly milk an amp for everything it's worth.
My Roland Bolt 60. At the time they were trying to mimic a Mesa Boogie. But they failed. I'm going to replace the filter caps and clean up all the pots and sell mine.
Hot Rod Deluxe or Deville, Blues Deluxe RI, Fenders greatest shame is having the word Deluxe in the names of these amps. Same goes for VibroChamp XD and all the other like pieces of junk they are foisting off on the unsuspecting public.
i've seen a few guys playing those "Black Pearls" not a single one sounded worth a dadgum! could just be the players though. i tried one and didn't like it. although maybe with some more time.....
