Ampeg Rocket 2

I just bought a Ampeg Rocket 2. A little contact cleaner seemed to be all it took to fix the volume pot weirdness. It’s very cool but I don’t think the 15 in Pyle Driver speaker is the original size. I am having difficulty looking much up, it’s the Reverborocket that comes up in my Google searches. Can people help me know any more about this amp?

Thats a sweet amp and like you, I think the speaker is a replacement.

I used to have an Ampeg Gemini and it too was a sweet amp. Sorry i cant offer more.

It's possible the whole baffle board was replaced, or they just enlarged the hole - you could pull the speaker and see what the hole looks like. The plywood look there isn't uncommon in those amps though.

Should be a 12". I had the Reverb version of this for a while. Really nice amp, wish I hadn't sold it. It's crazy how light these are even with the oversized cabinet. Something like the WGS/Jupiter/Fat Jimmy low-powered 12 or maybe a Weber 12F125 would probably be a great match. Mine had some kind of small magnet Jensen ceramic in it.
