I use an old 5 Gallon paint bucket......I "borrowed" it from my father-in-law!!
I know this is an old thread, but I was searching desperately for a stand for my new head and cab and came here first. While there are some OK suggestions, after searching further I found this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876,92051677682,&A=details&Q=
I thought I'd share.
90 bucks? ok enjoy it looks pretty nice for a head /box combo if you must angle it to the roof.but I think its absurdly expensive. So is a similar one from GC for 30 bucks.
Just do like a million other people and put the dang thing up on a milk crate or a chair.
I hope that doesnt sound too pushy, just how I feel.
Which one? I checked out GC and didn't see a two-level stand there. If they've got one for $30, I'm all in!
No doubt gone now it was in one of those daily sale emails a while ago. Probably 40 now. I should have said so in my post
Musicians friend has frequent deals on those kind of things, stands of all kinds I find something useful now and then thats way cheap.
Old thread, but I thought I'd throw this out there.
I rigged it myself, but folk like Josh at Atlas can make a shelf. It looks more professional than what I did.
I remember picking mine up on 1 of those MF deals for $14.99 ish. Keeps my BJr out of harms way.
Here is a similar stand availible in Aus, they do put a weight and six restriction on it though so it is worth checking for that in any ad. Seems that the cheaper they be the less weight they support.
if you buy a fancy amp stand it would want to hold up@ $89.99 USD
My Princeton's much more valuable to me.
I use an old SOLID wood coffee table built in a school woodwork shop.
I've often stated that chairs work great at gigs. I also stick a thick book under the front sometimes. Nothing fancy, but I like playing. At home, maybe a nice piece of furniture looks better.
I use a folding saw horse. Couple of cross pieces screwed on to the top and the legs sawn off to make the whole thing about 2 1/2 feet high. Dead cheap, very strong, nice and light. Folds up into a small package for transporting.
Those cheap On-Stage stands work pretty well.
Still like this simple solution. (Not my pic or my idea)
I like this one. It folds flat and the amp is low to the ground and points up moreso than out
Yes! That's the one I have.
So as mentioned I see lotsa a players with their amp on a chair or box of some sort...I have been planning on building a box say 24" wide by 20" high but with maybe 2 or 3 drawers in it. This would double as a tote (in leui of the plastic tote box we use now) for say pedal board, PA cords etc. and put my amp up on it to play.
Any one done such...would love to see a picture if so
I've seen some expensive amp carts and dollys that allow you to keep your head and cabinet connected.... you just roll your rig in and plug in your guitar and pedalboard.
I got together with a friend of mine that knows how to weld and we designed this dolly rig. Pneumatic tires to cushion bumpy roads and stairways....it rolls SMOOTH. The head is separated slightly from the speaker cabinet for vibration isolation, and forms a handy little shelf I designed the two handles in the back to act as skids for sliding smoothly into the back of my vehicle.
There's an adjustable guitar hanger on the side, for your spare axe. Powder-coated steel, and straps to keep your gear attached during transit.
The head is an Allen Old Flame (40-watt tube head). The speaker cabinet is a 2x10 semi-openback with a powerstrip in the back for powering my pedalboard and amp. I also have a 1x15 ported, sealed back cabinet that also fits.
