Any time someone brings up The Sonics, I say , sure, ok. It’s almost too easy .

But I never fail to bring up The Monks . Records recorded the same year and they’re at least as punk as The Sonics.

I Hate You ! (but call me...)

What is punker than that ?

Sure - The Stooges ! Who of course are the actual first punk band .

(The Monks were just insane and The Sonics were a hard-edged garage band .)

Is that a Binson on the keys ? That’s a great sound. Rock n roll is so cool !

Good point. I learned about the Monks about 20 years ago... they're virtually unknown to most folks... and they are more 'punker' than the Sonics... tho I dig the Sonics heaps more.

As long as it’s not the French! Jk. I promise. Don’t ban me. I like the French. And their food.

When I was a kid back in the 50’s, basically there was Elvis, Little richard and Chuck Berry as the headliners.I liked the music, but it was my fathers music. The Beatles changed everything for me that Feb 9th. Then my favorites, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Clapton, Grand Funk RR, and Pink Floyd. The British did take American music and really drove it home.

The Americans started it, the British polished it and made it all sparkely, then the Australians scuffed it up for a reliced look.
Personally, I like all the flavours that emerged from R&R.
Believe it or not, I there are even Canadian and European bands I like.

Making a provocative statement then following up with the statement 'fight me' is kind of stupid and lemming like. Bite me.

    ;)
