Can anyone tell me what a American Voiced Speaker is? What speaker can I put in my vintage Ibanez GX60 to get pure clean sounds for country music for my Telecaster. Currently it's got a Ibanez speaker in there, a MM-GX0206. The type is SP-GX0201. Should I change the speaker?

I'm never certain just what constitutes American vs British voicing in a speaker.

The Italian company Jensen produces mighty fine speakers that are supposed to be/claim to be/may actually be American voiced.
I don't know about that. I do know that I really like their MOD series of speakers. In some markets, they are sold as the 'Chicago' series :)
Make of the international nature what you will. They produce a sound that my ears find pleasing, to the extent I have two 1x10" cabinets and two 1x10" combos with MOD speakers in them, and they're not getting replaced.
I have a 1x8" combo with a MOD speaker too.
This does rather expose my bias toward them.

I prefer the MOD series to their CR range. I built a 1x12" combo and veered from the MOD path with a Jensen Jet Falcon 50. Holy heck is it good.

Not much help. Get on Youtube and listen to some speaker shoot-outs of Celestion and Jensen speakers.

It's likely getting a speaker with some good character/voice may make your amp sound better. It's just really hard to say. Is it a 12" speaker? Is the Ibanez speaker too warm sounding? or...?
Eminence sells many different guitar speakers and would be my recommendation, or Weber but I have no idea what you can get in S. Africa.
Not a big fan of modern Jensen speakers, but as mentioned, the Mod 12-35 might get you there. The 12-50 and 12-70 are quite warm sounding and may not get you the "pure clean sounds for country music" you desire.
Other factors are how loud you play and how clean/bright you are looking for.

I thought the basic difference was that "British-voiced" speakers had more mids than "American-voiced" speakers. At least for vintage speakers. Modern speakers come in all sorts.

You could always put an EQ pedal like a Boss GE-7 in your signal chain and set it up to scoop the mids a bit. British voiced speakers have more mids, and American voiced speakers have less mids, generally speaking. Country players also like speakers that don't distort. Hence the mention of the JBL. JBLs and EVs are known for staying super clean even at high volume.

Speaker switching can get quite expensive. Hence my mention of the EQ pedal option.

I looked around for whatever info I could find on the Ibanez GX60. Seems like a pretty low cost amp, solid state, from the early 80s. My wild guess is that an American voiced speaker with a high wattage rating would probably make it sound cleaner at high volume levels. However, at low volume levels, such as in your bedroom, the stock speaker probably sounds fine and your best bet is to adjust the EQ using the amp EQ controls, your guitar controls, and possibly an external EQ pedal to try and get the clean tone you're seeking.

I suspect this amp was designed to produce "shredder" tones that were popular back in the day, but at a lower price point.

What I've discovered is that British speakers seem to have more upper-mids and American speakers tend to have more lower-mids. The result is that to my ears, Brit speakers have a sharper sound while American speakers tend to have a rounder sound. After years I've come to the conclusion that I like Brit amps with American speakers. Funny thing, that. It appears that the Allman Brothers liked the same combo, with Duane preferring Cerwin Vega ER123s with his Marshalls.

American voiceds is usually bright and chimey ceramic. Chicken picking bright.
Not sure if they had 10s or 12s in the early ibanez amps.

What do you not like about the current speaker?
