    Hey guys,

been looking at this used AV 64 tele online. Is this how much they are going for these days? I called to inquire about the guitar. There is a small chip on the front, one on the back and one in the neck plate. I have not played these reissues but I’ve heard many good things. Thanks for any insight.

I payed $1399 for my 2012 AVRI last year from Carter’s. It was a player grade. I also got all the case candy. It did have a few chips and dings in it. 692DC264-9813-4DC7-B94B-B91642AB7CCF.jpeg 0C4A4D2D-7223-4505-B4DB-F093C628CCEC.jpeg FE715BE6-3306-48BA-99E2-C513A99597B1.jpeg 700F5DC4-0D66-4365-B34E-C9578E875160.jpeg 79C01289-5D57-4BEA-885F-6E00549B7809.jpeg 130DC131-AD4E-4024-936B-65632D0C8117.jpeg

That’s actually a pretty decent deal

Exactly, different model and different series after AVRI later in 2012 they went to the new A.V series which is more period correct with a flash coat lacquer, hence the chipping

Ya I heard these were more prone to chips, but that's never a deal breaker for me

That's a dollar less than it's worth! Jump on it!

Try haggling, but don't walk away if you like it. That's exactly what they go for now.

AV '64s are great guitars, every used one will have chips out of the paint.

As for price, they seem to be listed online for more than that usually but I have no idea what they actually sell for.
I got mine for about $1350 USD about 3 or 4 years ago, and prices have definitely crept up since then.

Yeah, that's pretty much what they go for. Basically what you could buy them for new. Unless you hold out and wait. Then you will be able to find one for probably $1200 to $1400. There was a 64 RI 30 minutes from me for asking $1400 in April when I was looking for my 50's classic lacquer. My dream teles are a 58RI or a 64RI. I got the closest thing I could afford in the 50's classic lacquer.

I love those G&G cases with the inside like that. The way they are so bright and reflect light. Almost like an aura when opening the case. I want to find one for my tele. I know most of the AVRI lines have always came with them. But tough to find them seperate from a guitar.

My 2014 '64 AV is my favorite of all guitars, including my Custom Shop '55 Esquire. Those gray-bottom pickups are just fantastic. Add that to the neck and the rosewood, you can't go wrong.

That’s the price I paid 5-6 years ago for a new LPB ‘64. Probably not a bad price in today’s market. They are superb guitars. Yes, they paint does chip easily. I saw one unboxed in the store and it had chips. Part of the charm. Pre-chipped takes away the guilty feeling when you add another. If you’re comfortable with the price, buy it, especially if it’s the store with the 45 day return policy.

That price is right. I have 2, a blond with a Seth Lover neck humbucker and a Fiesta red all stock. I know the trend around here is to swap out any and all stock saddles but I like them. IMO the AV series, which is very different from the AVRI series, are the best Teles Fender has made since the pre-CBS era. They are getting hard to find as well. There was a canniblised one on Reverb last week for 2k. I'd grab that one. Good luck.

Congrats…I love mine. My favorite Tele I’ve ever had. The necks are great on these guitars, at least for me.
