I think I remember seeing it on the inside of the cover, it was that or the box, but Made In Japan isn't anywhere you can see it. Hope this helps

American vintage reissue and Custom Shop vintage style Fenders all use these same tuners.

The MIM's that are vintage style use pings made in China

stamped ...

All the Gotoh vintage tuners I have owned have JAPAN stamped on the inside flat plate that mounts against the back of the peghead, other vintage style tuners AFAIK are not stamped at all.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure the tuners that came on a used Fender reissue that I bought are original. I assume they are top quality?

I don't know if the CS is Gotoh or not. But there is no JAPAN stamp. The top pic is from an aftermarket Gotoh "safety style" tuner.

EDIT: Correction! a closer inspection of the CS relic turer reveals that it does indeed has JAPAN stamp  however all that rust makes it difficult to see

But, AVRI '52 and NOS Nocaster tuners look the same. Both with JAPAN stamp.

Nothing better. I put these Gotohs (various versions including 3 x 3, white buttons, etc.) on basically everything I assemble.

I've got folks telling me the Ping splits (on many MIMs) are actually made in So. Korea.

I want to try the new Gotoh "stealth" tuners but they're not available in splits yet. Soon, I hope!
