Hi all, first post here. Just bought my first Fender Telecaster, an American Performer Telecaster in Honey Burst. I am more used to American humbucker equipped guitars. I couldn't be happier with the telecasters build quality and the Yosemite pickups. Plenty of clarity and punch. I have always had trouble getting clarity from neck humbucker guitars. The pickups in my tele read a bit lower, ( neck 5.9/bridge 7.4) than the official Fender spec but I'm loving the tones I'm getting.

I seem to have the same problem with this post... ;)

Seems like this American Performer purchase did not happen at all...

@Monty58 Welcome here on this forum... There is ONE completely UNWRITTEN rule that is very important over here: we are all lurkers that love pictures of someone else's gear... So if you got this fantastic guitar, you are morally obliged to take pictures of it and show it here! :):D

    Welcome, Monty!

I got to play one, just like you described here. Fender is getting a good result here.

Welcome, can’t wait to see it. There’s just something about that new guitar smell but pics are the next best thing.

    @Howard VA ,
I am very interested in the Performer Hum you have just displayed.
Is the guitar worth the investment in order to get more tonal diversity compared to a SS configuration? Does the humbucker feel like a good one (taking OD and distortion better)?

I bet the typical Guitar Center locale has one; in case ya'll would like to see one in person.

Pictures don't do justice. Just wish, the fret wire was smaller. And, the neck section fatter.

Pete, you really will have to play one in person. Only the prospective owner can decide if the relative loudness of the neck HB versus the single coil bridge pickup, is OK for them.

I am very impressed with both the pickups in this guitar, and yes, there is more tonal diversity than the SS configuration. I would highly recommend this Tele. Well worth the investment. I love everything about mine.

Loving the pics in this thread!

American Performers are fantastic instruments and the very best bang for your buck in all of Fender's line up.

Bought my first Tele a month ago, It's a performer as well, After trying about 10 different Teles at the store, including some really expensive ones, the performer just felt right, wonderful neck, and the pickups sound perfect. I swapped out the tuners and saddles the first week I had it.

I absolutely love it, I can not put it down.... Congrats on your new toy!!!

I have one in the Penny color. It’s a beauty. And I put Gravelin pickups in it. Look him up on the web. His classic Tele pickups are the best I’ve ever heard, hands down.

I got an American Performer Tele recently, it's my best friend. Mine is actually rare, it's butterscotch blonde and only 300 were made, the quality is unrivaled and it's perfect, if I could change anything - I wish it was a U shaped neck rather than the C

They aren't that rare, my local shop has 3 of them and so do many online retailers.
