hello all. i've got a friend that just bought an American Performer Tele. he's finding the neck pickup too dark for his tastes. the only way i know around this is to take the neck pickup off the tone pot, and eq the amp so the neck pickup sounds good, then use the tone control to darken the bridge pickup accordingly. i am not real familiar with this model, though. what are your experiences, and if similar, how did you solve the problem?

Single coil neck pickup, or the humbucker neck model?

If it's a single coil, try lowering the neck pickup. If it's a HB, this is what he should expect.

    Too dark?

Well then he definitely won't want to do this mod! The Performer is routed for a P90 sized pup. (Well, at least the humbucker version is.)

Although I did put in a new control plate with a 4 way and 500k volume pot.
