Thanks; the link is now inactive (it just spins, and if you go the dealer's Fender page it isn't there). I did get an email from Fender this morning with a way to get a quick 40-second video of bodies being cut/measured and neck plates being stamped (but only showing the blanks) at the Corona factory. The official release date is 11/5/2019 for these.

It's just the next incremental evolution of the series - now the 5th evolution since the original American Deluxes came out in 1998.

Now the question is, can the wife tell the difference between a BSB Squier and a BSB Ultra?

It's just further evidence of how hard it is to improve the basic design of most fenders, and especially how hard it is to make anything "ultra" about a tele.

Aside from fancy wood what are you going to do that hasn't been done?

Put the truss rod nut at the headstock or make it easily reachable at the heel
replace the faulty original jack cup design with something better
    six saddle bridge
    noiseless pickups

These are all common aftermarket things and all common on lots of other teles.

There's no really much else you can do aside from claiming exotic materials.

Fender should have an experimental line for new ideas but not make it MIA-non-plus-ultra level -- the stakes are too high and buyers too critical. Make it MIM or Asian. People would be more willing to give it a whirl. (Truss rod wheel joke there. Ahem...)

Seems we may only have to wait a few days to find out what we already seem to know.

the husband of one of my daughter's co-workers designs guitars for Fender. While he hasn't given me details, I think more changes are coming. Obviously not a secret. Stay tuned.

Those pictures seem so oversaturated... I don't like those oversaturated colors at all. They hurt my eyes!

Only the pure white and black ones seem correct to me, despite I would never buy a black or white Tele... OK white maybe if it hat Maple Neck...

Oh, they blew it this time.

Look at how the saddles are not "true" to the alignment line set out by the path of the tensioned string. They've rotated anti-clockwise. This IMO is the whole reason why an offset saddle mount screw is a mistake, to start with.

Usually one sees this on worn out, beat to heck, "put away wet" trem Strats with this saddle type.

Of all the things not to get right in an Internet Image.

    That's one way.

But I "like" the idea of improvements appearing first on the highest of the high end models and in some cases, trickling down.

Otherwise the features are received by the consumer as "Low Cost, Short Cut" substitute solutions for problems that never existed at the beginning.

IMO there's always some aspect of the high end market that's interested in innovations and sometimes, for innovation's sake alone.

But take a look at the screws; they're all straight and not pulling with the strings/saddle. That would seem that the image is Photoshopped or the threads are angled in the saddle to counteract the pull. Weird.

So in effect they're just US Fenders?

That was the concept behind the MIC Modern Player range of basses and guitars. Which I think was a disaster for FMIC and the overall status of the Fender brand. The contractors had no real idea what was expected of them and so the execution was awful.

I think the Fender Custom Shop is the best place to do the Skunkworks types of projects.

I hope they've thought this through and used the standard vintage 4 screw bridge footprint.
