Probably something suggested by their legal team in order to avoid accessibility lawsuits.

More importantly, has anyone carefully checked the onscreen captioning for the proper use of the apostrophe, or apostrophes as the case may be?

Apostrophe’s in the right place, I’m happy. Apostrophes in the wrong place, not so much.

Subtitles are now required by the FCC in a lot of corporate situations. I'm guessing this is the case. I've been dealing with it at my job.

soooo, you are saying beethoven isn't allowed to play guitar?

subtitles are just one more way of acting like you care.

Subtitles are just one more way of showing that you care and appreciate that not everyone is like you are. If more people took the trouble to think of points of view other than their own then the world would be a better place.

see thread titled "middle aged people are taking up the guitar".

if I could go back in time and tell my younger self, when I was driving around in my Plymouth duster and blasting "more than a feeling" as loud as my little am radio would go, that someday I wouldn't be able to understand the tv, do you think I would have turned it down?

    no.

agree. and if more people did this... when it came time to take up arms, you'd understand them well enough to vanquish them quickly and effectively.
