Coming from the perspective of a late 60's Tele thinline; what would be an affordable alternative to something that sounds and plays well. Any model or manufacturer can be suggested. Not too expensive though.

Off the rack, build from parts (MJT) or via private builder?

Check out these limited editions from Chicago Music Exchange. I just purchased the 60's version in black, but am also tempted by the Butterscotch Blonde model. You won't believe how good these guitars are (this coming from a guy with 30+ high end guitars).

What specifically are you looking for in a thinline clone? Chambered? The f-hole? Drop top? A particular finish? Several manufacturers, including Warmoth, make thinline style bodies, its not hard to screw a neck on and make it any way you want.

Squier Classic Vibe. I’ve had two Thinlines over the years (And two other CV, and have played many). I’d highly recommend them to anyone wanting that style of guitar.

The ones from like 10+ years ago tend to be slightly better IME, but even the brand new ones are nice guitars for the price.
