Alternative to standard telecaster wiring suggested for these pickups?

Can anyone tell me the reasoning in this diagram for this wiring setup for a standard telecaster? They have the volume pot output connected to the middle lug of the tone pot and capacitor connected to the 1st lug (on the left) of the tone pot and then grounded to the pot. This seems the reverse of what I had thought was correct. Does it have anything to do with the "taper" of the pot? Thanks for the help.

This is how they did it in the 50's, it's supposed to solve the issue of the tone darkening as the the volume is rolled down but it created an interactivity with the volume control.

I probably have half of my Teles wired that way. But mine have a hot lead to the jack! :D Otherwise, you ain't gonna hear much.

Ha! Don't know why they left that off, looks like they just uploaded some new ones different from what I printed out a few weeks ago.

I have run into incorrect wiring diagrams even from S-D! It happens. Frustrating though...
Not everyone's cup of tea. I keep trying them, but keep switching them back to 3-way switches. With me, too many options result in indecision.
