Nice neck. You did a great job.
Might be the light
Here are a couple shots inside with no flash and outside no flash .
Stop there! (I mean, with the Tru-Oil on the neck.)
Just a stunning build all the way around! My favorite so far!
Good advise Glen I'll take it. Thanks!
Wow thanks for that!
Grain filling the mahogany with joint compound and RIT dye.
I'll have a lil more sanding to do that's the look i was after pretty much.
that neck is gorgeous!! joint compound? how thats work?
Thanks! Yeah joint compound works great on this mahogany, used it on my build last year with good results.
Wow, the neck came up so beautifully. Nice restraint on the dye work. Man, I can't wait to see this guitar together and working. Really cool idea!
Thanks Phil! Hopefully that will be soon
I hit the back with a coat of sanding sealer.
Then i sanded back and gave it a wipe with some dark walnut stain. I know its mahogany but i wanted to tame the redness a bit.
Time to seal the top . I used a lil Bullseye sanding sealer let that dry. Then hit it with a wipe of boiled linseed oil.
Good time as any to get started on the pick guard. I had a old one kickin around so i hacked it up a bit.
I still have to teak it a lil and transfer it to the black triple layer pick guard material and get that cut out.
Looking at the top im kinda a lil more on the fence about doing a light burst.
It was really humid today and i didn't want to try anything else with the finish. Leaves me a lil more time to ponder , to dye or not to dye.:?:
I was just dying to dye it. For better or worse its burst.
Wow... Just when I think this one can't get any nicer, I scroll down to the next pic and I am proven wrong! The coloring on the mahogany is perfect!
The best kind of burst; one that is so subtle, you have to ask yourself, did he, or didn't he?
I just read the whole thread,if there is a ingenuity prize then you must have it.
First coat of truoil on the top. Defiantly gonna be a black pick guard on this one.
