Was thinking about David Allen and Allen Amps today, so I surfed over to the website-posted on there was a message that Allen Amps was not accepting any more orders at this time, and that he has sold the business! A bit of a shock to say the least, though I’m sure he has good reasons to do so. Always wanted a Sweet Spot but never could get the scratch together (yes I’ve played a couple of them-great amps!). I guess we will see what the new owners will do here...

Wow, that's too bad as he sold some pretty quality amp build stuff I thought.

Lots of competition out there in the boutique realm...it certainly is a tough business to make money as you can never really charge for all of the hours you have to put into building those amps. At least not when there are 20 other builders out there under-cutting your prices.

Hopefully, it was simply time to retire form the business rather than any forced issues financially or medically. Believe me, it is very painful to lose a business that you spent many years building, even hard to just walk away for a new venture.

Allen amps has been purchased and are up and running again. The guy who is running it is named Alan!

I actually purchased a Chihuahua kit in late November 2022. I've completed the chassis but waiting on the cabinet. So far the process has been pretty smooth.

Thankfully he is still working on old Fender amps, but he did sell the designs and company essentially. I'm sure the amps and parts are still the same for the most part.
