Bought this HOSCO swampash body offered as 2-piece:

    But on the 2nd look…

    B2E50B9E-5064-42D5-B636-B0EC716779E5.jpeg
    …it‘s a 3-piece body.
I‘m not too picky about it since Hosco is superb quality but nevertheless I feel a bit deceived. Should I return it? It‘s a featherweight, only 3 lbs 15 oz. and lightweight swampash bodies are pretty rare these days.
    Jay or nay???

It looks great from the top.

    I’d keep it.

If they have prices for 3 piece bodies as well, I would probably ask for a discount. Otherwise simply keep it if I liked the grain and weight.

If it costs more for a 2 piece, I'd ask for the difference to be refunded. Otherwise, I doubt it makes any difference tonally.

agreed. If their 3-piece bodies are at a lower price point than the 2-piece you ordered, contact them and send them your photos. Politely point out their mistake. Tell them you are happy with the quality and appearance of the body you received, and ask if they could refund the difference in price because it isn't the model that you ordered.

I'm sure they will be happy to correct the error in this way.

Basically, a real nice looking ash body just shy of 4lbs? I would keep it, but I've never been very picky about things. :)

Good weight, grain looks great? I’d keep it man. Maybe negotiate a discount though, for what it’s worth.

Yes, send it back, or get a refund covering the difference in price between it and what you ordered.

It's important to force retailers to give you what you ordered. It helps protect all consumers, in the future.

There's nothing wrong with a 3-piece body, but there are indeed usually price differences between 1-piece, 2-piece, and 3-piece Hosco bodies.

It isn't a rare piece or anything. A 4 lb. body is not particularly light, in my book. Have no qualms about sending it back.

That said, I would be happy with having the difference refunded.

The deception is a concern, I agree. However, If you are that picky then you might not ever have bought an early Esquire/Broadcaster/Nocaster/Telecaster because Leo and Co would not even bother with try8ng to arrange the two,piec3s so that it looked like a two piece. They would put three pieces together with angled joints…..no disinformation at all IF you look closely or ever strip one. Here is one that would make a good early one…replica Broadcaster body done by former member Brian Poe, RIP, and gifted to me by @Dave Yeats.yes, Dave, this one will get done this summer…at long last. These four pieces weigh about 3.5 pounds WITH the spray handle attached. Old song says it all…She’s got freckles on her but…she’s pretty!

The grain match on the face of that top is excellent. I'd let it slide, but let the vendor know that you are not pleased that you got something different than you ordered.

The graining on the face really looks good to me :).

They did a very nice job of matching up the grain and the color - excellent candidate for a transparent finish.

From the face, it actually looks more like nice one-piece body than a two or three piece ;).

Being an old wood-head, that's always one of the first things I notice on a guitar.

I've seen plenty of Fender bodies that look nowhere as nice as that one.

If you like the appearance and are satisfied with the weight - I'd keep it ;).

Light-weight Swamp Ash blank prices are sky-high right now and I'd guess bodies are relatively just as pricey.

If there is a big difference in price between two-piece and three-piece, maybe you can get yourself a little refund or some credit. You do have some very clear proof with that picture.

Hell, I'd keep it. Put a nice finish on it & it just may be the best damned tele you've ever played. Not gonna know until you complete.

I'd keep it and not put too much thought into it. It's just not worth the conversation, to me.

The weight is 3lb 15oz which is remarkably light for swampash. Good bodies, especially made of swampash are hard to find these days, at least in europe.
