Partscaster Practitioners,

I’m investigating which brands of parts-casters for Fender style guitars can hold their own against the products coming out of the fabled company in Corona California (and Mexico… sometimes Japan too).

Focusing on bodies and necks, SPECIFICALLY, I'm wondering which brands MIX well with Fender components, i.e. DO NOT result in complications, like neck dive or compromised playability/ functionality.

I learned the Fender+Squier lesson, in that:
FENDER Bodies + SQUIER Necks = Good!
SQUIER Bodies + FENDER Necks = PROBLEMS, mostly sever neck dive.

I’m a bit of a stickler with neck dive, I don’t like the band-aid solutions, like changing the strap buttons or adding weight to the body. Best way to avoid neck dive = join parts that naturally have a well-balanced weight. Squiers are just made of less dense wood varieties, sometimes the bodies are actually thinner than their American or Mexican counterparts. Put a heavy Fender neck on a light Squier body and it just doesn't feel right.

And before you ask who in the world would want a Squier neck on a premium Made in America Fender body, the point is it will work, functionallly, without the aforementioned defects. Many Squier necks are of decent quality, the offending brand name aside; give'em credit, they get the job done! I find American and MIM Fender parts mix just fine, no weight issues. I have some example pictures attached.

—Back to the original question, which parts casters parts do you recommend? Warmoth is, of course, American made an choice quality. What about the W.D. Music, All Parts, or Real Life Relics? The STRATOSPHERE company has some cool looking bodies of their own brand — at real affordable prices! -- in many interesting colors; How do they stack up in quality and functionality with Fender parts?

IME...best way to avoid neck dive = heel-adjust truss rod. Puts the heaviest part of the rod nearest the body. No neck dive. Every single headstock adjust neck I've had felt neck heavy. So all I use are heel-adjust. They feel great.

If access or removing the neck is an issue, check out Parklane Guitars...they offer necks with heel-adjust rods with flywheel adjustment that are recessed into the end of the neck, so no neck removal or body modification is necessary. Better necks than Fender too (and better looking), for about the same money.

I’m aware of a type of heel-adjust truss rod necks from Warmoth; I believe they’re called “modern style,” they can be adjusted from the side of the heel: no need to detach the neck! An intriguing idea, as are Parklane Guitars; I’ll have to check’em out!

So if I’m understanding correctly you’re looking at improving a Squier with various aftermarket parts? I have lots of guitars I built. About 10yrs ago my brother gave me a squire strat… alder body, great flame on the neck… every part on that guitar has been replaced… tremolo- garbage, tuners-garbage… the previous owner tried to sand the cutaways with a flat electric sander and mutilated it… so, I finessed the body back into shape, nitro finish (natural wearing), brass block which I had to route out to fit, dimarzio velvet pickups, Grover’s, might mite bridge plate, KGC brass saddles, and of course raw vintage springs… those are the key to a strat staying tune…
this guitar is a work horse… so unless you love the neck, is it worth doing this?? …..no! I have 700.00 in parts, not including the wood… now if you love the neck, then it’s worth it.. the bones have to feel right or what’s the point??

Bodies/necks: look at tone bomb out of 🇨🇦. Imo has good as the warmoth and less money

I was just trying to give Squier necks their due credit; my larger point was that , in my experience , mixing Fender and Squier bodies and necks can equal trouble, and I was looking for recommendations on which aftermarket parts-caster parts held up to Fender quality standards and were compatible with Fender parts.

But, like your experience, the attached picture of my prized Fretless FrankenBass started its life as a Squier: now only Squier tuners remain.

You could say, from headstock to bridge, the bass gets considerably more expensive…!
