this is the experience i had when i quit drinking, i can't tell you what was real, at first i thought it was the neighbours washing machine, then i realized it was not. it might have been real, the rain was sure pouring down, the other sounds i can't tell you. I thought i was going mad because the chainsaw sounds at 2 am seem pretty unlikely.

I think this is a good reprensentation of what is going on in your brain when you quit.

It is a long one, but still shorter that what i experinced. But musically and visually, this is it.

    Damn.

My wife is trying to quit right now. I’ve never been a heavy drinker except very occasionally at parties or bars when I was in my early 20s. I basically don’t drink all year round anymore, so it’s hard to have perspective on what she’s going through. Seems tougher than I could’ve possibly imagined. Scary stuff.

Congrats for getting sober. Sober since 1978. Never looked back.

So glad to hear you are in the clear. I had a period while stuck in Japan last year that I was developing a problem. Luckily I had bought a guitar and amp and dove into music. Turns out it was more situational than dependency, but it was headed in that direction. I can’t identify with the nightmares in the video but everyone has their own experience with it.

I ain't though with drinking though i appreciarte the congrats. But this was scary enough that i put into music and visual.

I still don't know if the pounding you hear in the song was actually there, because sometimes the city hall will cut trees in my neighbourhood at night so not to disturb the traffic.

so the poudning might have been the fuel thing going on and on.

But still, this is a pretty accurate thing of what went on in my mind, when your brain is racing through god knows what, and did my brain make the bird noises ?

i still don't know because the swallows here go to bed late and wake up early. i still like them but they pass my window at least 20 times per minute.

Thanks a lot for the enouragement (was that english ?) but i am not quitting. i was trying to put into visuals and music what happened to me.

I guess making the stuff was more important than any body listened to it. I had to get it out. This was scary stuffs, like i tried to convey in trhe video.

I thought the house was infested with yellow jackets, and was sure that I was gonna be stung among other hallucinations but also was aware I was withdrawing which was a small comfort I guess but could not sleep well for the first year.

It reminds me of dreams I had when I was very young. The key feature of those dreams was anxiety. Loudness and jarring images.
(maybe it was thumb-sucking withdrawal...I was very young ).
I have read that such dreams are a manifestation of conflict in life. Who knows?

Thread title caught my attention. I quit drinking because of a fear that I was getting hooked. Thankfully, no withdrawal. Guess I am lucky.

Alcohol withdrawal can KILL you, people with a history of alcoholism/heavy drinking should only quit under the care and guidance of a medical professional.

No way i could listen to the whole hour, I would need to start drinking :p However, I did "skim through" it and it's a pretty interesting concept and well done. Your selection of images and clips to go along with the music were right on. There's probably a market for this, probably for the opposite crowd of those who are into ASMR.

Repeating for emphasis; adding that future withdrawal episodes get more dangerous. Don't play around with that.

come on it is only one hour and one note pounding ! but thanks, this is pretty much what my mind races through when not drunk, except it goes way faster. i tried making a faster thing, but i ran out of .gif after 3 minutes....
