My favourite fact(oid) about the Presence cover is that Hipgnosis first presented it to Pink Floyd. Who sighed wearily and told Storm Thorgerson he’d have to try harder… off he went and sold it Zeppelin.
(I think Floyd were probably right on this, it’s not one of Hipgnosis’s greatest designs IMHO.)

A classic!! I think the original album was wrapped in black.

Indeed it was. I had one, wrapped in black and with a sticker with the band and album name on the shrinkwrap but no text on the sleeve when you took that off. I’ve long lost the postcards that it came with (same for my DSotM LP’s posters and stickers).

Ornette! My favourite Ornette Coleman album cover is this (and the most Ornette album name, too)

A quartet of Peter Gabriel albums - although they have acquired references and names, they were released as identically eponymously titled records, as if they were successive issues of a magazine. I think all are designed by Hipgnosis.
