OK gents here are 2 titans of the blues......each one great in his own right

they are cutting heads..in the only know film footage of them together on stage.....

The Ice man VS. The Velvet Bulldozer omg! i want your opinion on who
won this epic battle on this particular night.......

Was it our beloved tele bluesmaster mr. collins or was is the god of blues thunder mr king?

heres my opinion to get the thread started the blues battle starts out with the ice man coming out of the gate strong.... then he lets the Mr. king take a shot... both start out well ...the 55 sec into part one albert unloads by turning around and removing a piece of wood from the front of his kustom amp exposing the massive 15 speaker
surprizing the ice man and from there on just rips into the iceman and pick him apart at will........the iceman does get some good counter punches in ...but hes been demoralized by then and to me looks like hes about ready to do a roberto duran "no mas" ....

victory goes to Albert "the Velvet Bulldozer KIng"
lets get the opinion going

Chicago Chicago that toddlin' town
let me say first that I love love LOVE Albert Collins.

but there's three Kings (Albert, BB, and Freddie) and it's hard to beat a King.

Albert and Freddie never really had the mass breakthrough fame that BB enjoys (I mean TV show appearances and stuff like that.. EVERYBODY has
heard of BB King even if they've never actually heard his music!)
but I'd put both before BB in terms of incredible chops.

BTW Mister Riley B. King is NO slouch and I don't mean to belittle him!

anyhoo:

what a showdown of the greats, bless the both of them in happy memories.

The thing about blues though, one of my favourite things about the entire scene actually, is there is no such thing as 'Who won' etc. EVERY true blues guy respects the others..

Example: Go watch a G3 jam on youtube.. All they do is take a solo.. ignore the next guy, get ready for their next solo, ignore the next guy, cut him off 3 beats early of his 4bars.. try and play faster than previous solos.. repeat as neccesary..

Now watch, this video.. They both listen to each other, they both express what they want to play, they both respect each other.. There's no egos involved or dick measuring contests, it's all about the music..

So who won?? WE won. Because we have the priveledge of seeing these 2 amazing guitar players jamming together. I'm sure neither of them will be forgotten for a long, long time.

Wow, I would've paid good money to have been in that crowd.
What a show. One can see the mutual respect going on.

I agree. But there is a fourth King that so often is forgotten. Earl King.
In this little soiree, Albert K just spanks the inimitable Mr Collins. it isn't with volume, either. I like them both a helluva lot; but Mr. King spanked Mr. Collins like a red headed step child. (no denigration meant or inferred to red headed step children, it's just a metaphor)
