I understand that Iggy feels vindicated that admen want to use his music in commercials.

Re: rights, if a published song is being used verbatim, anyone has the right to buy a license to use it. If it's being altered, then permission is required. I remember Paul Simon telling Letterman back in the 90s that he turned down Midas, who wanted to use The Sound of Silence in an ad ("hello Midas, my old friend").

Jefferson Airplane (1970) was my first ‘real’ concert unless you count Paul Revere and the Raiders one afternoon in the 60’s when I was a grade schooler.

Yes, I get the outrage. You might dig the commercial break culture of 2020.

I used to get upset when I heard Who songs in commercials, or as TV theme songs. They seemed to be TVs go to band for a little while. Then I thought who cares? I mean lets face it all these songs are oldies. God help me Paranoids an oldy! Take the money.

Grace Slick is around 80 years old, I really doubt she cares as much as some of you seem to.

No, it's "feed your hair"...as in Grecian Formula 44. Even back then they'd begun to worry about Jourma's receding hair line.

I just found out today that song was written by Bernie Taupin (maybe spelled wrong) and Peter Wolf of J. Geils. I felt disappointment. Pretty crappy song.

A young attractive girl once told me she thinks of me when she hears that song on the radio...I have no idea how to process the conflict of revulsion and hope?

it always reminds me that elon musk bristles at this song and claims he can do a better mambo.

For me personally, the ad is completed misguided. It is the one commercial out there that makes me the most uncomfortable. What does "White Rabbit" with it's drug connotations and conversations have to do with Cruise Ships? That the Cruise Ship gets you higher than the pills described in the song. I just think it is very disturbing, and I am not a prude!

Here is the ad. The woman is this commercial definitely does not have a wedding ring on (so she might be divorced), but there is nothing that leads one to believe she is very wealthy and further, looks like she is in her early 30's, so definitely not a boomer. Help me understand.
