Just wondering if these work for non-rich guys?
Say like 20 years younger for a my friend that's 56 now.

My ex wife was 7 years my junior.

Our age difference played into the demise of our marriage.

    Obviously she was too old

Long as your friend doesn't buy her anything or cater to her, should be A-OK for a few weeks at least.

My wife and I were born 1 week apart, so I’m not the one to ask.

But I will add that before I met her, after I got divorced at age 40, I briefly dated a 25 year old. At first I thought jackpot! But trust me it did not take very long at all until I was bored out of my mind. By the 3rd time she asked me if I thought her shoes were pretty I was running for the exit. (And she was no dummy, she was in law school!)

For me, I really would want to be in the same decade as the girl, but no more than 5 to 6 years is better.

So, wouldn't really want to date below 21 at my current age.

Now that's not to say if I was 35 and met a 22 year old girl I wouldn't date her, but she would have to be actually unique and special.

Notice I said date...not the other word...big difference in dating and the other word.

I use to, well let's just say care a lot about this girl. Looking back pretty sure she did me. We were born 10 days apart. Always thought we'd end up together but things just never happened. Probably a lot from us both being nervous to mess up our friendship, the rest from life circumstances.

She's married now, and lives in California...

Big difference between 56 and 36, and 46 and 26, in my opinion.

    Now, 36 and 16 - don’t do that, it’s not 1977.

I was 45 dating a 28 year old. Her biological clock was ticking big time. She wanted kids now. I wasn’t sure about starting at 45. I wasn’t sure it would last anyway and it didn’t. I hope she’s happy and has the family she wanted. I’m pretty cool with whatever.

I think over 25, 10 years is often doable. 20 really depends on what people want from life. That for me is what causes the issues I think. But there are exceptions, always, and if people are happy...

My wife is many years my junior, and our marriage and relationship are fantastic. We were best friends before we fell in love - and we’re both very happy.

My second wife, B’face, was 18 when I met her and I was 29. My current soulmate is 53 and I’m 60 in June. My record is dating a girl who was 22 and it was my 45th birthday night. And, no, she wasn’t a “rental”, I just have game.

In 20 years, your friend will be 76, she'll be 50. At that point, that could be a significant difference, depending on DNA. Unless he's got genes of steel, he'll be dead long before her. Is love all conquering? Maybe, but it can hurt like hell none the less.

9 years between me and my wife. She was 20 when we first started dating, and even though we've had our moments, we have always pulled through. And there have been a few close calls to deal with. I think life just sometimes throws crap at you, and it depends how you process that as a couple.

My wife's two years older than me and that's as big a gap as I've had with anyone. We'll hit 27 years of marriage in August.

It's none of my business and there are rule-proving exceptions, but the few old guy/young gal relationships I've observed directly were all sorta gross (18-25 year gaps), and stereotypical in the ways you would expect... overly controlling guy who wants an arm trophy to make his friends and/or ex jealous, nothing more than another accouterment of a mid life crisis.

    I’m not overly controlling, I’m more of a teacher/coach.

That's a big gap, what could they have in common? Imagine a road trip, she probably want to jam some Nickelback. They had the #1 song when she graduated High School. Or maybe some Nelly - It's gettin hot in here...
Yeah, I'm 51 and wouldn't be able to handle that. She might even follow the Kardashians.

    I didn't! I was 34/35 and she was 17/18! Best year and a half of my life - 1998/9.
