I got a D2F once but wasn't overwhelmed, though it was probably as good as most amp covers. Looked online and there are several. Studio Slips looks interesting - canvas instead of vinyl, I think. Any pointers, recommendations based on experience, etc. welcome. Thanks.

...What don't you like about your D2F?
I can't say I didn't like the cover, and it's been a few years since I sold the amp with the cover. I do remember that it was a bit short. And, their price is now something like $65 so thought there must be competitive products to look at. I will check out Tuki, thanks.

I've ordered and received several covers from Custom Amp Covers. http://www.amplifiercovers.com/ Nice, heavy duty vinyl, much nicer than a Fender cover. They'll make a cover to fit any amp and they fit very well. The other bonus, for me, is they're local to me so I can order and pick them up a couple of days later. They'll even put the logo of several brands on the cover for no extra charge. I'm not sure which brands they do and don't, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Interesting thing I found, with my last order, is they now own and make Tuki Covers. The only difference I see between the two brands is the Tuki usually has extra padding inside compared to the Custom cover. Otherwise, the outside material seems the same to me. And, of course, the Tuki's are much more expensive.

If you have a good woman in your life or family (Mom, granny, aunt etc...) that likes to or knows how to sew I suggest you ask her if she can stitch you up something nice. It will most likely cost less and be better than anything you can buy for say sub $100... If budget is not an issues Studio Slips is the best soft option i have ever seen but you pay for it.

lol, man you are low on the totem pole in your family.... :p just go pick out some fabric you like, some 1/2" foam and drop it off with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates. You will have your cover in 48 hours haha.

+1 I've ordered 3 custom amp covers from these guys, been very happy each time, totally worth it.

And for those of you who say ask the women in your life to sew something.. what, are you a sexist? Guy's can't sew too? Geeze...

I haven't tried the D2F so I can't comment on that. The Custom Amp Covers are local to me as well, so I can save on shipping. I haven't bought one for quite some time, but I would put them in the category of great dust covers for home or light use when transporting the amp. At the time I bought the last one they fit great with a flannel type lining...I doubt that they'd offer a lot of protection from a relatively hard hit by something solid like the corner of a wall at home. Definitely keep the rain and dust off with at least some padding.

The Tuki and Studio Slips are about as good as your going to get without a road case if you buy their top of the line versions with 3/8" or so of foam padding inside (not sure if they still offer the dust cover types or not).

Basically it depends on what your reason for needing the cover is. For home use I'd go for the half price Custom Amp Covers. If you're throwing them in the back of your truck, trunk, or car and gigging every couple of weeks I'd go for Tuki or Studio Slip. The strap around the bottom is nice to have if you order one of those.

Ordering some quotes.

Mostly I'm looking for something to keep the cats from deciding the grille looks like a new scratching pad, but as I was putting it in and out of the trunk yesterday (and will be for a trip to visit old friends/band mates for a couple weeks) I was thinking a cover with a bit of padding would be nice.

The bottom strap looks useful but as amp transport will be a minor use, and I now set off Geezer Alerts while driving, probably will skip those - something to think about.

Thanks for the replies.

P.S. Wife sent the sewing machine to Goodwill some time ago. No freebies available (and she gets flowers and chocolates already!)

There's a lady on eBay who makes them out of packing quilts and their better value for your money than the vinyl. I'm unaffiliated but very happy with the one I bought for my PR:

I messaged her on eBay and she got back right way. For a new model, she makes a lightlweight "proof" and I was thinking it was a good idea. Then, I got to the bottom of her note and saw her address, and, amazingly, she's about 2 miles from where my sister lives, and I'll be around there next week, with the amp! This is going to work out pretty well, thanks!

I tried a D2F and a Studio Slips on Princeton Reverbs. I liked the Studio Slip the best so I bought one for my Deluxe Reverb. Nothing wrong with the D2F it is a nice cover but I like the Studio Slips better.

I just need something for a dust cover, (anyone in So Arizona will understand) in my little music room so I bought 4 big black bath towels from the dollar store, I think about 3-4 bucks each. Very effective. I toss one over guitar on a stand if its going to be parked out of a bag for long. Works for my simple needs.
