No one has mentioned gloss black. I know after considering all sorts of crazy colors, that's where I'd go.

Gloss black would look very good.

Unless one goes crazy nuts on this base, it's actually pretty difficult to make it ugly.

CA45C587-FB3C-46FD-BA3D-B8A5588F669E.jpeg Hey @John Backlund, how about some Calyx Manifold Dressing treatment on that stand base? Found this before/after pic of what I think is a Mitsubishi 2.6L exhaust manifold...

...wait, scratch that...just read a few reviews that said it rubs off and leaves marks on your hands...probably less of an issue on an exhaust manifold than on a mic stand base!

"I'm George Jetson and I approve of this mic stand."

I'm wondering if it originally was a speaker stand?

Very cool. And it seems to take on a life of its own when you turn it over. 8F15A00E-3632-4FF3-91B7-8740680F3ED7.jpeg

For a real retro look, paint it wrinkle green.

Very cool! Looks like it was originally the base of a 30s-40s 8" pedestal fan.

Any custom bike shop can chrome that for you.

I was looking at that exact can of hammered silver paint when I was at the hardware store yesterday afternoon looking for the large fender washers to mount the mic tube to the base.

The nearest custom plater is several.hundred miles south of here in Nebraska. Too far to want to drive it down there, and too heavy to mail...otherwise I might have considered it.

Got a full-service gunsmith close by? They can hard-chrome it or nickel plate it for you.
