    Hi guys,

I am looking for an affordable boost pedal or overdrive pedal for a clean boost. Not to push a tube-amp further into overdrive. I want to boost my clean signal a bit en give it more presence, sharpness and cut without an edge to the sound.

There ar many affordable boost pedal around but the ones I have tried makes the sound to full and rounded. Nice of course but not the sound I aim for.

Let's say that I look for the sound most tubescreamers make with the gain knob on zero and the tone knob at 12 or frther but without taht edge that is still there a little bit.

A boss Ge7 will allow you to cleanly boost the frequencies you want. Perfect for your needs. And mine.

That is exactly what I wanted from a boost, and can say that the Xotic EP boost is great for delivering richness and fullness, while keeping clarity. Mine is almost always "on" when I'm playing, especially my Tele or Strat.

The GE7 will do a good job and it has the added bonus of... well... EQ! Also, the T-Rex Karma Clean Boost is on sale over at Sweetwater for about a 1/3 off. No experience with that particular pedal, but they usually do a nice job.

Even cheaper than the GE7, its Danelectro clone, the Fish n Ships is great, and even quieter than the Boss (I have both).

Do they still make the Boosta Grande? I found it worked pretty well for "just make me louder".

For what you describe the MXR Micro Amp is the perfect answer.... and can be had dirt cheap often.

Go hunt you down a Timmy clone, better known as a Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive "V1" not the V2 pedal,, you'll love it for what you're looking to do!

Not to pick nits, but what's the difference between "sharpness", "cut", and "edge"?

Oh, never mind. From context, I'd agree an EQ pedal would work. Frequency boost ("sharpness", "cut") without necessarily causing more distortion ("edge"). Or, a clean boost with EQ controls.

Tc Spark Boost full size, mid boost mode then add a hint of grit with gain knob. Then you can still fine tune even further with active bass/treble knobs to get it just right.

Also I’d like to try Fender Engager booost one of these days.

Another vote for the Donner Boost Killer. It's exactly the thing that you described.

... and mine. I have a new one now, but I've got my original one from 35 years ago, and it still works.

Xotic RC booster is what I use all the time. Can also do edge of breakup with the gain control if you want and has active bass and treble. Works for me.
