Looking to get an Affinity Tele and since I already have a MIM bridge I was thinking of making it string through. Anyone done this? Any issues I may have?

Also will most Tele pick guards fit an Affinity?

    I wouldn't drill string-through holes unless I had a jig and a drill press.
I've see bad holes on factory made guitars... I hate it.
Nearly impossible without the proper setup.

Seems people find it harder than it looks. I thought that if you drilled the small string hole from the bridge end. If the holes are a bit off on the backside you could drill the bigger ferule holes inline then touchup the small string hole in the middle.
But ive seen some pretty ugly jobs.
I like my bsb affinity as is. You could practice on a 2x4

Sorry I should have done a little better searching on here first but I see what you guys are talking about from other threads and most people said they did not hear a difference anyway. I just figured since I had the bridge why not but I think I'll leave it as is.

Can't wait to see what a PITA changing strings is going to be!

Strings are easy. Just put a slight bend on the end and you can feed it right through to the saddle ramp.

I'm sure it won't be to hard. I have just read a lot of people complaining about it.

No worse than any other electric git, certainly easier than an acoustic.

I haven't ever bothered to string through an Affinity.

What I have done is preserved its topload nature, but with a three saddle bridge

Easy mod, and a big improvement IMO

Looks nice with an ashtray cover too

Good job on the string through though. Did you pilot hole through from the front first?

I have done it and refinished the guitar Daphne Blue nitro at the same time etc.

Mods threads on here are pretty details - should be able to find under my username.

No, it's not that bad. My last tele was a string through hard tail, but the new one is a top load with block saddles. I learned quickly to just put that bend in the end of the string and feed it on up through the saddle.

I remember that guitar in the Squier Affinity Club thread - it's a sweet guitar man.
