What type of strap looks good with a sunburst telecaster?

And by type I mean style/color/look etc.

Just looking for some insight. I was looking through the strap rack at the local shop and saw nothing that jumped out at me as being a fit.

Right now I have the plain Jane black Levi strap on it that had been on my Bullet. But the emperor needs his own clothes.

I use a mid brown leather strap, around 3 inches wide on a sunburst strat and I think it looks good.

Brown Leather. That's a good suggestion. I was checking out some websites and found a Fender Tweed strap that I thought might be cool. Seems like brown might be a good way to go.

Black or brown are always good, but go for 3" or even wider if you can. It makes a big difference spreading the weight on your shoulder and a long night playing will be much less painful.

Thank you very much for that bit of advice. I think all the ones I was looking at were 2".

i've got the planet waves "slip on" pads on all of my guitars. very comfortable, not too $$$, but they do slide around a bit. they do help take the weight off your shoulder. unfortunately i think they only come in black, but i could be wrong.

BTW, my vote is for a black strap

Check out Eyeland straps on the web. All their straps are handmade, feel REAL good, and aren't too pricey. Beautiful work.

I have several, but I use my plain leather natural Levy 2.5" strap on everything. There may be better looking straps for some of my guitars, but I don't care, the plain leather is so comfotable I could give a hoot.

I was web shopping for straps last week. I looked at a bunch! I personally like a plain leather strap... 3" soft cowhide or sumthin' like that... Ain't what I got though... I got 2.5 inch swede leather, with contrasting ends and stitching or sumthin' like it... I got 2 or three. But they were all Franklin Guitar straps...
I think I chose what was available at Sam Ash... But Franklin has a website you can browse... I like em...

For a sunburst, I think I'd try to match a leather finish color to the mid-tone in a 3-color burst or something that would at least blend in hue to the high tone in a 2 color burst...

Thank you all for the suggestions. I like several of the ideas presented. Once I finally decide on a strap I'll post a pic in this thread to see what yalluns think.

    You must try

one of the leather straps from "ToneQuest" Magazine. They are the only strap that will improve the "Tone" of your guitar. The tone improvement will be significantly reduced if you use it on several guitars so buy several of them.

I made my own out of thick, pliable, dark brown leather, i love it! designed it exactly how i wanted (fairly wide, prob. 3") and made it adjustable. it was really easy to make and added a personal touch to my instrument. I'll try to get a photo up --

Funny thing is, i hardly ever use it (even though it's always on my tele) as i almost always play while sitting down. Oh well...it looks cool.
