Hi, Can someone clear this up for me. This thinline is available for sale on Reverb, but when I look up the serial on Fender it seems to be not found while the serial numbers either side of it are found. The account also seems really weird.

Is this a massive red flag which I should steer well clear of?

The first red flag for me was it came up as a Def Leppard album 'Foolin''
I'd run a mile from that.

Fender serial numbers can be a mixed bag of accuracy. If it comes up as a different colour but the same model, it happens sometimes.
If it comes up as a different model altogether, you may be looking at a partscaster or outright fake. Compare images of that model and model year. Pay attention to the tuners and logo used plus the bridge assy.

If you copy the URL by highlighting only the URL and item number, it may help. tinyurl may be your friend too.

The address has more wrong with it than the dot or no www. The OP will have to explain this, but yes, serials that don't work in the fender lookup don't mean it's not real. I've had several like that and rps told me it's not unusual at all.

Other than shipping from China to Wales, I don't see any obvious red flags. But it is also a model (CIC and P90s) I am totally unfamiliar with. But the price seems reasonable - even if it isn't 100% legit. It would likely cost you close to that to throw together a Squire with P90s and a nice case for that coin.

As this is CIC, shipping from China, I would press the seller to prove its legitimacy. More pix of guts, codes, and stamps with the neck removed. But I suspect the listing may not last long - it is a combo that is unusual and I would suspect desirable. I have soapbar P90s in a partscaster Thinline and I love them.

I disagree with those who say this was a desirable model. It was not.

Now, the Classic Vibe series from this one breakthrough plant in China, those guitars (except for the Duo-Sonics) were quite amazing and seemed (to some to be) superior to the MIM Fenders of the same period. But the Modern Players were manufactured by another group of people, and IMO they were inferior to our expectations, just as the CIC Classic Vibes sort of blew our minds with the evident quality.

A used guitar shipped from China? For $171 shipping cost? Why would you ever even consider doing this? Are there no guitars available in the UK? Or EU, even?
It's a good point actually, I initially thought it was a good deal as the seller says it will ship from their adress in the UK, but I don't think that reduces the shipping cost, so it doesn't really save any coin at all. I'll avoid.

I did not say it was a desirable model. I said I suspected it was a desirable combination of features. :)

How many places does this guitar exist?? This seller's business model seems shakier by the minute.
