On my local craigslist someone has a ‘65 deluxe reverb re-issue for $350. They state that there is a ticking/popping sound when the reverb tank is plugged in. When it is unplugged, it works fine. It also includes the foot switch and cover. Has anybody ever encountered this issue? And, if so, is it an easy fix for a complete and utter novice like myself?

A good price even if you have to spend $100 getting it fixed

The only thing is that I don’t have $350 unless I sell my katana with foot switch for $300 and get the rest somehow.

If everything works, that's a great price. I have one that ticks, but it's quiet enough that it never bothered me.

Don’t want to sound like a Debbie Downer, but by the time you sell the Katana, it’ll be gone.

If you can't afford it, it's too expensive regardless of the price!

Yeah, unfortunately at that price it won't last long.

You might ask for a trade, and then try to get the rest of the money together.

See if they are interested in a straight up swap for the Katana. The noises could be a preamp tube and it might be the trem section if it's ticking to a beat, at worst it's a bum ceramic or poly cap and it might be $100 to get a tech to fix it. It may be with the trem turned to zero it's silent.

I'd buy it and hand wire it.
