This is a pretty simple switch around that might give you a different sound free...

I saw him with Commander Cody's Lost Planet Airmen back in the early '70's - GREAT stage band!

    Hot Rod Lincoln...

What no PIO caps, 24k gold pots, and unicorn hair wiring Bill? What gives the particular Tele it's magic then? Can't be just the Bowery Pine? What? Oh, it's the "player" huh? You don't say! ;)

I tried flipping the controls to get the switch out of the way of my gangly hands (no volume swells or tone knob trickery for me). The knobs were just as much in the way. Now I bend the switch over, a la Danny Gatton. Works fine.

When I bought my Butterscotch Blonde Ash FSR Tele the first thing I did was switch the controls back to the normal position. To each his own. LOL!

Love to watch Bill Kirchen play.. Besides sounding great he just makes everything he does look easy. I hope he & Redd are playing next time I'm in Austin so I can catch them live.

I generally like the controls reversed. I like better access to the volume and tone controls.

If you are a big switch-flipper tho, you'll prob like the std position best.

When I first started playing I saw that Bill had his control plate reversed. I figured if it was good enough for him it would be good for me. All my Tele's are this way.

Bill's actually a pretty big switch-flipper himself. I am myself, for that matter, and I still prefer a reversed config, without question. It's not that much further to get to the switch.
