    Hi all
    Stupid question from a newbie
You adjust the telecaster action by screwing the brass barrels down or up and there should be a 1.5 mm gap at 12 th frett between strings and frett ?
I would like to have a go at setting it myself
    Thanks Greg

Yep, you got it. I'd take the 1.5mm gap as a guide - all guitars are different.
And if you screw up, you just wind it back and have another go :)

Remember that if you lower your strings you may have to lower the pickups too.

There are many informative threads on here about action, neck relief, etc.
    Try a search.

Yeah, don’t get hung up in a single height as the "correct" height. Lots of things can impact what works best for you such as string gauge, playing style (speed versus bending), to name a few. Play around with it to see what feels best. That’s actually a good rule for everything guitar related. Good luck and have fun!
