AMICRAZY for thinking that I can add a separate volume and tone to this without modding the body? I've looked for a prewired pickguard but am coming up with zero results. Has anyone else added a separate volume and tone to their VM?

I doubt that you'd be able to find a pre-wired pickguard to do that. What seems to be feasable is to change the current pots to stacked concentric pots and do it in the same way the controls work in paranormal jazz bass. You would have to do the wiring yourself but there are tons of examples to be found on the internet. It should not be that difficult.

The listing for the pickguard on Ebay in the previous post has routing options, including one for regular humbuckers.
