For the past few months we've been attending a new church that meets in a local park. The pastor asked if I would be in rotation to lead music, this will be my first Sunday leading:D:eek:

No band just acoustic and singer, because of sound levels in the park. Rarely do I lead music at church; I am always the guy in back with Tele. I have an old Washburn that I got when my brother passed away. It plays and sounds good. The church plans to go through Advent outdoors, might get pretty chilly for the fingers!

Looking forward to my new role;)
    This week we are singing:

Before the Throne of God Above
    Good and Gracious King
    Just a Closer Walk
    Lord Have Mercy
    Sweet Hour of Prayer

Those are good songs. And sometimes less is more, when it's just you, your acoustic and a singer or two. Have fun and post a picture.

Even though I lead with a full band, or play a supporting role, I enjoy the times when I get to sing outdoors in a park. Right now, I am playing worship outside in a big tent, that seats 150+.
Great PA, and setup / teardown crew.

Sounds like our long lost “family camp” weekends. Just me, and acoustic, and a fire ring. Oh, and a song book so folks could shout out songs they wanted.

A good and worshipful time was had on those.

It was a cold rainy morning, had fun but my fingers were numb by the end of service:confused: Found out I can still pull some sound out of an acoustic guitar:D

    @hotraman you wanted a couple pics~ IMG_20201025_102615586_HDR.jpg

I've been told, there's no such thing as "lousy weather"; just inappropriate clothing...
    ;)

    Peace - Deeve

Only my fingers were inappropriately clothed, should have had mittens. Though that might have muffled the sound a bit, it sure would have felt good:)

I played acoustic/sang at a memorial service below 40 and sloppy misty rain. It felt like my left hand had been slammed in a car door. That's a lesson I'll only need to learn once
    Never.
    Again.

Fingerless gloves, with the fretting index completely removed? :D quasi-serious suggestion there ha!

for me, I don't know if it's that I move around, but as someone who's always cold, I tend to end up being way to hot playing (but I am also doing lead vocals, so maybe it's a lung/heart rate thing?) - my fitbit does class it as aerobic exercise haha

    Nice pictures @dougstrum
I am playing electric this Saturday night, big outdoor tent.
I plan to dress in layers.
It's a big stage, with lights.
The stage lights do warm up the place a little.
We are heading into the rainy season here in the Pacific North Wet.
But I'm thankful for the opportunity to play / lead worship.

Only One outdoor service was enough for our church in a GA Summer. People really enjoyed watching my light blue shirt turn dark blue within 30 minutes.

    My Saturday night update:
They had three heaters that were blowing out warm air, one was behind me, below the stage.
And the other two were ground level, funnel type.
The tent ( with open doors) wasn't as cold as I thought, but the worship got the folks going.
People in 12 step recovery love to sing and worship.
I'm scheduled again this weekend, and rain is in the forecast o_O

55 degrees this morning:) Had fun playing with a 2nd guitarist. I am getting used to playing acoustic again, the old Washburn rings out nicely.

    This morning we played:
    We Fall Down
Christ the Lord Is Risen Today
    In Christ Alone
    We Long To See You
    Oh Give Thanks

Going forward into winter we will plan on calling outdoor service or zoom based on weather~
