Just to say that I am so pleased by the versatility of the telecaster. I found a quite good setup by playing angus parts on the tele with the pickup bridge. Open chords with full tube drive on the Marshall emulation of guitar rig 5 sounds neats and proper to me. Cheers!

I agree. I fired up my Z Wreck last night and plugged my FSR Black Paisley Tele straight into it. With the amp's volume at noon "Shook Me All Night Long" sounded sweet!

I've been playing AC-DC & ZZ Top on a tele for years and love the tones I get.

I use vintage fenders or Dr Z maz 18 with a Keeley modified ts 9 and it smokes any rock sound I want.

Yeah, me too! It's not so much about copping the tone for me as copping the feel.

I generally use my Esquired Paisley through my 5150 Combo. I plug into the low-gain input, use the Rhythm channel, and crank the post-gain knob.

Just goes to show you can play just about anything with a Telecaster and the right amp. For me, a 5E3 circuit and a Tele is as close to perfection as I can get.

Same here....infact the tele's versatility was one of the major factors that decided that a telecaster will be my first guitar
Initially wanted an sg before i fell in love with 'the twang' but i am able to get an sg-ish tone with my tele just fine

I'm a recent convert to Teles myself after always playing Strats. I always thought they would be uncomfortable to play due to the non contoured body. But they really are versatile & comfortable to play. And I really like the simplicity of the controls and overall design. Everything works in simple harmony to make a great sound and feel.

If you've got a four-way pickup selector switch and some fairly hottish s/c Tele pups, ACϟDC is well within reach with just a chord and nicely toasty tube amp.

Of course it sounded sweet through your Z Wreck, I'd expect nothing less from such a sweet amp!

Tube Amp clean high volume and smash them strings = AC/DC's tone.

All I use to reach a point of " MalcolmAngusness " is my Tele with the bridge tone rolled back, an O.D. box turned up just a little to add a bit of hair and my PRRI. I have found most folks go overboard on the OD / distortion with AC/DC. Just think of it as the blues sped up and turned up.

My Crook T does a decent job. The bridge pup is a T-50 Voodoo (10k) so nice and fat with that Tele bite gets me close.

Actually, I get pretty decent AC/DC (Bon era) tones with a classic 30 and a Tele. As long as you play those Malcolm approved open (first) position chords it sounds pretty close.

Which goes to show once again, it's more the style (technique) than the gear.;)

The embedding is disabled, but this guy has got it exactly right.

AC/DC is about the amp. And the right hand.
