Is there a book with actual transcripts of Keith's open G Stones songs? I'm sure there's stuff online, but I like having something physical in front of me that I can return to when I need to. I was watching a video I have of the Licks tour and got inspired. Maybe I should just retune a guitar and play it that way for six months or something. But it's good to learn from the mistakes of others.

The secret to having something physical in front of you is transcription from the track you like.
Im not aware of a Stones TAB book there probably is one but as I say Transcribe it yourself.

Guitar Player has had a couple of good Keef articles in the past with extensive explanations...you might try their archives section...

There is another thread on this a few months ago.

The Alfred Classic Album Authentic Guitar books have the songs in Open G TAB:

Somewhere on the internet if you google it is a lesson by Arlen Roth on playing "Honky Tonk" women in Open G. That is how I learned that song. Is there a list somewhere of which songs Keef did in Open G? I would love to add more songs than just Honky Tonk Women and the Leo Kottke version of Jesu Joy that I do in Open G.

Theres a bunch of stuff on You tube...some very good and precise...some pure unadultrated bozo-ness...on playing Keith Richards in open G..got all the big ones..Honky Tonk Women, Brown Sugar, Tumbling dice, Happy. Theres also a bunch of "how to play Black Crowes"...who used alot of the same sort of open G moves.

There's no official "Open G" Keith book, but all those tunes are mixed in with the other regular tuned tunes. I think the Exile book would have the most Open g songs.

It's mostly rhythm guitar stuff and cool riffs that I'm looking for. When I was in the hospital last year the singer in my band brought me a Guitar mag that had Tumbling Dice in it. Knowing that I had some free time, I started messing around. I've played slide in open G but never really figured out too many chords or riffs. Time to learn some new (to me) stuff.

There is a book called Rolling Stones Signature licks that is pretty good depending on what songs you want. There is also a Guitar Legends magazine from quite a few years ago that pops up on ebay sometimes. Its a great read on the Stones but also has the tab for Can't You Hear Me Knockin, Honky Tonk Women, and some others.
