Looking for a ac15 style amp in a head format.
Can't be more then a grand new.
I know the best amp to recommend: the Valvetech Hayseed 15.
Not in your price range, though. Sorry. CS
Winfield Cyclone head is $900 and comes in several colors.
You could do what I did to my class 5.
Build or get a head made and just separate an AC15 combo.....
Shouldn't cost very much at all.
Out of that price range, but the Matchless Lightning (one channel) and the Bad Cat Black Cat 15 (two channel) come in head format.
For your budget, buy either buy a used AC15 combo of your choice and get a head cab made for it, or you can get a new Ceriatone Lightning in head format for $830 plus shipping - it's a clone of the Matchless Lightning circuit and would certainly be in the AC15 ballpark.
Would the Carmen Ghia fall into that category too or translantic boogie?
There's a Winfield straight from Winfield in the Classifieds:
One extra hole, $100 off retail.
I bought a head from a guy on ebay (brettsvintagetubeamps) that periodically makes an 1960 circuit AC 15 head with Master Vol. He lives just an hour north of me. A FANTASTIC AMP!!!
I'm having him do all my amp maintenance and repair now.
He builds a head with the top boost and normal channel and one with just the EF86
I bought mine for about $475.00 US
The quietest amp I've ever played and very dynamic to the string attack.
Drop him an e-mail.
Check out also the Ceriatone clones of Matchless amps. i have something similar made by a Polish guy and it is a very good amp.
Four years later and I'm still in love with mine.
+1 for the Hayseed. You can find these used if you're patient.
I've got a good buddy who swears by his Goodsell.
How close to an AC15 does it need to be?
The G2 Night Train head has a clean channel that sounds like an AC15....
