Anyone else notice that? After a day or two no edit option on posts now...

As far as I know the editing feature is limited and has been for some time.

That's the same as all forums I've posted on. Usually is about 24 hours. Prevents disgruntled members from slipping in nasty things or going nuclear and wiping out all of their posts at a later date (which results in threads making no sense).

you can always ask a mod to fix something if it's a big deal.

I edit a lot because I don’t see real well, and misspell a lot.
I also occasionally try to clarify my intent.
I’ve had no problems, but sometimes, if I get quoted, I see glaring errors of one kind, or another.

It's an option in the forum software this forum uses - Xenforo. I suppose the point is "accountability"?

At the Steve Hoffman forum the ability to edit goes away after only about 15-30 minutes after posting.i

If you clarify an intent on your original post after a few commentaries have been posted, then these might not make sense and THEY will want to go back and clarify their answer to your clarification. No end to it. If I want to clarify something, I usually do it in a new post, even if my Edit is still open.

    I’m careful about that.
I mostly edit my fumble-fingered spelling errors.

I sometimes go back and see that I totally missed seeing a mis spelled word, or said something unclearly. In the past I have been able to edit for a long time after posting, In fact I've not noticed not being able to edit at any time until recently. Now it goes away fast.
Not a big deal but noticed it.
Yeah, another non music forum I'm on has always been about 20 minutes and the edit goes away.

Paul changed it to something like 12 or 24 hours years ago. We used to be able to edit older posts before that but a couple of guys got mad at something and went back and tried to delete all their old posts and Paul put a stop to that.

I'm curious....do you guys not get the little squiggly line under misspelled words when you type them? I do.....and then sometimes spend several minutes checking for correct spelling. And the funny thing is, it's often the same handful of words every time....I just have mental blocks on some words' spellings.

    I don't.
I (think I) spell fairly well.
    I have "old eyes" though.
Perhaps I need to up my reading glasses strength.

I just wish I had the ability to "edit" other people's posts......then I could correct ALL misspellings....;)

When I first learned that they censor "s**t," I edited it to "doody."
