+1, and I think the fidelity of the recording is phenomenal. I think it reflects all of the George Martin/Beatles recording improvements/experiments over the years. It seems to have some kinda mid range magic to it. Happy Birthday Abbey!

I like Maxwell's Silver Hammer, but I also like "My Love" by Paul McCartney and Wings so go figure.

"My Love" is a masterpiece IMHO.

They knew it was going to be the final Beatles album, kinda makes you wonder if John and Paul were already thinking about solo albums and saving their better ideas. Harrison knocked it out of the park, though.

I think my great “issue” with it is that there are some lost opportunities on the album. Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight are presented as little more than ditties, when both had potential to be much more - both their melodies are sensational.

Agree. Deceptively simple, very musical solo by Henry McCullough.

Actually Bruce should have covered it for Nebraska.

It would fit right in with all of the other serial killers...

When Paul sings “ maxwell waits behind” and then laughingly starts the next line “writing 50 times” apparently John Lennon mooned him from the control room because he said “behind” and it’s great they left that in the mix!

This thread is a weird reminder that I have a harpsichord to restore - the same aluminum framed red board model used in Abby Road. Worked great in the 80's, I guess it has been a while... I gotta move that heavy beast toward the work bench and figure out where to get strings.

Between the Beatles & the Left Banke I always thought harpsichords had a great future in rock - until they became the signature sound of the Partridge Family. That ruined them for me at least.

Agree whole heartedly the Partridge family did their damage. The cool thing I discovered with mine was that any guitar pedal worked well for that particular electric harpsichord as well.

"Well they blew up that Maxwell kid in Philly last night...."

Could also make a great theme song for Dateline.

Interesting that there is a camp that thinks a lot of side 2 is filler and missed opportunities. While others think Side 2 of ABBEY ROAD is THE BEATLES’ crowning achievement.

One of my favourite albums of all time. Still have my original vinyl I bought as a teenager on its release.

I never did get all the vitriol heaped on MSH when the obvious turkey to me is Octopus Garden.
