Just saw this on Vince Gill's FB page:

It's the May/June 2011 issue, I'm not sure if I'll get this issue now that Mom is no longer here :(

I still have the AARP issue with Bruce on the cover. When I got it out of the mailbox I thought it was a Rolling Stone or guitar mag of mine, but then notice it was AARP, and that Bruce hit 60 mark.

They seem to have a great marriage-good on them. And I don't have to turn in my man card if I'm a little jealous of Vince do I? Jeesh, the guy's got it all.

I gots me a bit of a man crush on ole Vince myself. He does seem like the nicest guy doesn't he. And what an amazing talent. He does appear to have it all but it certainly wasn't just handed to him. I'll bet he's worked his butt off to get where he is.

I know a few folks-I'll bet you do too Boney-who have worked all their life and haven't got close to that level of success. It almost seems like the stars and planets have to align or something... But it's a moot point. And Vince seems to handle that level of success better than most. He always seems like a humble, soft-spoken gentleman whose quick to give credit to somebody else.

Dang, now I'm jealous again. :D

What Vince Gill has :

-Phenomenal guitar chops - on a level w/ anybody playing professionally anywhere.

-Assorted multi-instrumental skills

-Very distinctive voice (the kind people remember)

-Songwriting ability

-He's viewed as being a "nice guy" (people remember that too)

-AMBITION (remember : if Bob Dylan wasn't ambitious we wouldn't know who he was today)

You have friends with all of those attributes ? Hell - I'd be frustrated if I was them too...

One guy in particular comes to mind Mike. My old guitar teacher had a number one hit with an established country artist in the 1980's, moved to Gnashville and worked for Tree for five years as a songwriter-they stockpiled his songs instead of promoting them. Guess they're waiting for someone else to break him so they can cash in. He currently runs a professional studio and has for years. He's a great player, singer, writer, engineer and producer and he's a decent looking guy (not that I'm any judge ;)). If the music business was fair surely he'd be better known. And I'm guessing there is lots of others in his shoes-likely some on this forum.

I guess I'm frustrated for him.
