Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis are shooting a new film just down the road, in which the Beatles never existed. I reckon there are still places in Suffolk where people are unaware they existed anyway.

Intriguing concept, I wonder what it will be like?

Probably really quiet - no hype, no screaming girls - and no Macca milking his career for decades afterwards.

I'm in!

A lot of my musical tastes would be unaffected. Blues, reggae, bit of country, bit of gypsy jazz, some Avant Garde stuff. All with roots well pre Beatles. No Beatles would mean no Brit Pop and the awfulness that was in the 90s.
I don't imagine that the fawning ninny Richard Curtis sees it as a good thing though.

Given that the Rolling Stones were only signed because Decca missed out on The Beatles, in a world without the mop-topped four, there'd be no Keef.

Well, he'd still exist, just maybe not as the tele-toting icon we know and love today...

This is turning into a mixed bag.

Some years ago now, when the Beach Boys "Smile" finally was (re)released, I really let myself go wondering what pop music would've become if the BBs had beat the Beatles "Pepper" and set the tone for music fans.
I know- alot of what-ifs. But isn't that the whole basis of the movie- what if?

I would have just waited around for Buffalo Springfield to appear.
They were the next band to be populated by writing/singing/playing overachievers, IMO.
Blessedly, the Beatles showed the way.

No Yoko Ono?

It certainly would have had an impact, but music would have found its way. Some other band would have influenced enough young people to be crowned as the “be all, end all”.

You mean playing the songs he's written including three of the most covered songs of all time? You mean singing in five octaves? You mean playing over 40 instruments? Is that "milking his career"?

It seems like you don't recognize genius.

For the rest of you, try going through that list. There are some amazing songs there. I wish I could write a song like "Yesterday" or write and play a bass line like the one on "Something".
